U.S. News & World Report Ranks The Village at Gettysburg on 2024 Best Nursing Homes List

SpiriTrust Lutheran® is pleased to announce that The Village at Gettysburg has been named once again on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nursing Homes List for both Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care.

The 2024 edition of Best Nursing Homes features ratings of more than 15,000 nursing homes, evaluated on patient and resident outcomes, such as staffing levels; health inspection results and other indicators of quality. The latest data reveals that fewer than 5% of evaluated nursing homes meet both existing staffing requirements and newly proposed staffing requirements by the Biden administration.

Short-Term Rehabilitation at The Village at Gettysburg: High Performing

The short-term rehab rating evaluates a nursing home’s quality of post-acute care for patients recovering from a hospital stay such as after stroke, heart attack, infection or accidental injury. At The Village at Gettysburg, 57.6% of residents were able to return home after being discharged, compared to 51.4% in Pennsylvania and 53.7% nationally. Per U.S. News & World Report, the ability to return to a personal residence rather than a hospital or other care setting is an indication of successful rehabilitation.

Long-Term Care at The Village at Gettysburg: High Performing

U.S. News & World Report’s long-term care rating evaluates a home’s ability to care for residents who need daily assistance with medical needs such as administering medications and non-medical needs such as dressing, eating and using the bathroom. Staffing at The Village at Gettysburg was rated as excellent for consistent weekend to weekday coverage, and 89.9% of residents maintained the ability to move, eat, use the bathroom and do other common activities without help, compared to 84.9% in Pennsylvania and 85.2% nationally. Per U.S. News & World Report, a sustained ability to self-care is indicative of quality care.

“U.S. News’ Best Nursing Homes ratings give patients, senior residents, their families and caregivers an objective assessment of quality, to help them choose the facility that best fits their individual needs,” said Daniel Lara Agudelo, health data analyst at U.S. News. “Nursing homes that have earned the recognition of U.S. News have a track record of achieving better outcomes for patients and residents, and maximizing the amount of care they receive from nurses and other staff.”
